Dart Goblin Evolution
In recent months, there have been 2 clear content release patterns:
- 2 evolutions
- 1 evolution and 1 new card
Dart Goblin will be the main evolution of the season, which is the one you can unlock with Pass Royale. Will there be another evo? A new card? We’ll find out very soon!

The Dart Goblin evolution card description says the following:
It's time to blow darts and chew gum, and he's all out of gum.
Evolved Dart Goblin's darts Poison the area around his target until they're destroyed. The more he attacks a target, the deadlier the Poison gets.
Evolution Stats
As with recent evolutions, Supercell avoids giving basic stat buffs. The main stats of the normal Dart Goblin are the same as the evolution.


Evolution Ability: Toxic Darts!

Evolution Dart Goblin throws poisonous darts at their enemies. Wherever these darts hit a target, they leave behind a poisoned area that also damages other troops.
The poisoned area has a radius of 1.5 tiles, which is smaller than a Zap (2.5) or Rocket (2.0); it affects ground and flying troops.
If a troop receives several Toxic Darts, the poisoned area deals more damage. This damage increase separates the effect into 3 different tiers, and the poison effect will change its color to visualize it.
These colors are part of a gradient that Supercell shared last week with a fairly cryptic post:
The 3 damage tiers deal a reduced amount of damage to Crown Towers (25%).

When Evolved Dart Goblin is locked to a single target, only the 1st, 4th and 7th darts have a distinct pink glow. These are the darts that will increase the damage tier of the poisoned area.
Damage tiers aren’t supposed to increase when Dart Goblin is locked to a Crown Tower, so poison damage should remain at Tier 1 regardless of the amount of darts shot. Our developer build shows some issues with this limitation, which sometimes doesn’t work after Dart Goblin retargets to a tower. It’s unclear if this bug will be addressed by the time the evolution is released.
The area DPS from Tiers 2 & 3 is very high, meaning that it will be very strong against troop pushes that are led by a tank, as it will damage all the support troops behind it. Here’s a comparison with other area DPS spells:

Dart Poison not only deals much more DPS, it also has unlimited duration.
Troops that receive a hit from a Toxic Dart become poisoned until they are destroyed. Additionally, these troops leave a trail of poisoned areas that last for 4 seconds each. Any opponent troops that step into this poisoned trail will receive damage.
The first Dart Poison damage tick happens 1.25 seconds after a Toxic Dart hits a target. After that, for all the 3 damage tiers, Dart Poison causes damage 1 time per second. So for example, at Tier 1, Dart Poison needs 2 seconds (2 ticks) to kill Skeletons or Bats.
Let’s look at a more detailed example to see how damage adds up and poison damage tiers increase. Evolved Dart Goblin needs about 10 seconds to take out a full Giant by himself (4,091 HP):

It’s worth noting that the damage tiers have a 1.25 second delay until they are activated. For example, the first Tier 3 tick happens after the 10th dart hit instead of the 7th one, but the damage upgrade would still happen even if only 7 darts had been shot.
Evolution Cycles
Dart Goblin needs 2 Cycles to activate the evolution, so 1 in every 3 deploys will be evolved.
Evolution Release
The Dart Goblin Evolution will be released on January 6th, with the start of the new season.
Usually, card evolutions are released slightly before the end of the season, which is the first Monday of the month. As soon as this happens, you can unlock it with Wild Shards. After the new season begins, players who buy the Diamond Pass Royale get 6 Dart Goblin shards to unlock it.
